"All-you-can-eat buffet" Are there any sweeter words in the English language? It would be cruel to tell you about the endless delights of that lunch but the desserts alone would have made my attendance worthwhile. Honestly, I had no choice but to attend. It was a graduation lunch for my class. OK, yes, I could have stuck to the salads but that was never really on the cards. Would YOU have?

The tourist season is coming to an end. We’ve had visitors with us almost every day from the end of November until yesterday. It’s been great, sort of like being on holiday ourselves but without the inconvenience of packing. However, the downside is that my weight has increased steadily and Jim’s liver is badly in need of a de-tox. February has been declared a month of fasting and exercise. Of course, that still leaves us a week in which to party-on.

We’ll be celebrating Burns Night with a BBQ at the riverside. Jim has threatened to address the haggis, but I live in hope of being able to talk him out of it.

Then, of course, it’s Australia Day which must surely be celebrated with a few snags (= sausages) on the barbie.
In fact, every night this week is booked up with some delightfully flab-inducing, recreational activity. Then February 1st is our 21st wedding anniversary. Surely, an event which requires celebration (and for me celebration = food, every time) But after that I’m going to take the phone off the hook, eat healthily and lose some weight!

Yes, I am fully aware of how pathetic this all sounds but watch this space. Back on the straight and narrow shortly.

Current weight: 76.8kg
