So it's coming up for the anniversary of when the doc told me I should lose some weight to benefit my blood pressure. I confidently agreed to try to lose five kilos over the following six months but here we are a year later and I am actually a kilo heavier. I know dieting doesn't work, but NOT dieting doesn't work either. As for all those lifestyle changes they recommend, (use the stairs at work, switch to low-fat milk etc) I embraced those decades ago. Doubtless I'd be the size of a house (as opposed to merely a cottage) by now if I hadn't.

I currently have as my bedside reading the Reader's Digest "Change One" diet book. A slightly water damaged paperback edition I got for $5 off EBay. The basic premise is that you make only one change to your diet and stick with that for a week. Then you continue with that and make another change etc. Unfortunately, you have to do more than just READ the book for it to have an effect but I'm working up to it.

On a brighter note, I did read recently that having thighs which are too thin is a risk factor for having a heart attack. I'm in no danger there, anyway.

Current Weight: 78.4 kg
