After my birthday came Jim's birthday and another excuse to indulge. The additional calories compensate me for the hardships in my life. This working full time requires me to get up early five days a week. Jim's comment that I am well-paid to sit around chatting to interesting people all day somehow failed to amuse as I dragged myself from the comfort of slumber into the harsh, bitterly cold light of day. Considering he's been on holiday for three weeks he was lucky to survive that remark.

My friend drowned in a bowl of muesli.
A strong currant pulled him in.
Just kidding. Though actually a friend did die recently. You don't expect fit, non-smokers in their thirties to die from lung cancer. It sort of gives you pause for thought. Let "Seize the Day!" be this week's message.
And did I weigh myself this week? What do you think?

I have recovered from the upgrade trauma and once again my computer is secure. And it only took a week. Simple, eh?
Life can now return to normal. Not only is the computer fully functional but so is my husband. The world cup is over. Hooray! Jim got up at 1.30 a.m. in order to watch the final. He crawled back into bed around 6.00, just as my day was dawning.
I've used the excuse of my birthday this week to stuff my face at every opportunity. Perhaps now I'm 50 I can justify 'letting myself go' and devote my final years to an expanding waistline.
Current weight: Sorry, forgot to weigh myself again. How convenient.

I am typing this with one finger while I am on hold at symantec tech support. After 7 hours of trying to install an upgrade to my computer anti-virus software I have finally cracked and called them. All pointless, I know, but I feel I must leave no stone unturned before admitting defeat and calling someone from the local paper to come round and do what I routinely do for others: download and install some software.
Every five minutes a voice with an Indian accent comes on line telling me that my call is important to them and please hold. So far I have been on hold for 25 minutes and haven’t been able to even speak to a human. When I do they will, of course, spend another half an hour telling me to do what I have already done. They will then try to fob me off with an email telling me to do what I have already done but by then I will have lost the will to live so I’ll probably just say ‘fine.’
Two days ago my computer was as secure as it was possible to make it. Now, I am running without anti-virus, anti-spyware or a firewall. All because I decided to upgrade. Let this be a lesson to those of you with aspirations towards improvement.
