Greetings my faithful reader(s). And apologies for my tardy post. I'll bet you thought it was because I hadn't lost any weight, didn't you? Oh, ye of little faith! In fact I managed to lose 600gms this week and I'm now down to 77.2 kg.

I'd be cheering except while rummaging though the old files on my hard drive I came across letter to my sister from 1993 where I mentioned that I had gained weight "and I am now 62kg." Sigh. If only I had known that I was probably fitter and slimmer then than any other time in the next ten years.

So, I've still got a way to go but at least I'm moving in the right direction. I think I may need to buy a belt soon. I keep having to hitch up my trousers.

Oh, and the reason for the delay in imparting this information: computer problems. I have been savagely attacked by spyware and viruses. It's been like surfing though treacle. Mmm, treacle.

Sorry that this week's blog entry is a bit late. How annoying it is to have lost weight and not be able to tell the world.
The reason for the delay in reporting this good news is that I am having computer problems. I think I can solve the problems given time but as I am working more hours than I knew there were in a day I just haven't got the time. Soon, soon.

Thought for the day: Can it be coincidence that 'stressed' is 'desserts' spelled backwards?

Another 200 gms melted away. Current weight: 77.8 kg. That's the most delightful part of having been 86 kg not so long ago: now even 77 kg seems positively sylph-like. Both my work skirts (I only own two skirts and no dresses) are loose, which is a novelty.

I wasn't expecting to have lost any weight this week actually because I had taken the day off for Jim's birthday and been out for a fine curry. Did I say a DAY off? Ok, it sort of developed into a weekend off ... a long weekend off.

I got called into work again this Monday. It's gratifying to be so indispensable but it meant missing my weight watchers meeting for the third week in a row. It's now gonna cost me the best part of $35 to attend another meeting and I'm thinking of other ways to spend the money. They have just brought out a new Star Trek: The Next Generation magazine that comes with a DVD every week. If I gave up paying someone to weigh me once a week I could collect all ten Trek movies and a zillion episodes. So let me consider this for a second: I can either spend my money on having someone make me feel bad or I can purchase a little low-cal escapism. No contest. The Trekkies have it. Just wait till I can fit into the ST uniform!

Quote of the day: I've been on a constant diet for the last two decades. I've lost a total of 789 pounds. By all accounts, I should be hanging from a charm bracelet. - Erma Bombeck

I'm not quite hanging from a charm bracelet yet but I seem to have overcome the birthday badness which resulted in no weightloss last week. I am now down to 78 kg exactly.

Today was certainly a good day for the diet. I spent the morning at the dentist being fitted for a crown. Doesn't that sound like I should now be a fairy princess? Alas no. After an hour and a half of having a gob full of wadding, lip retractors and bite blocks, I really don't want to put anything else in my mouth for the rest of the week.

Had to miss my weight watchers meeting due to the dental appointment. That's two weeks missed now so the temptation is strong not to go back. Especially as it will cost me $30 to attend the next meeting. If you miss one you have to pay anyway when you return. Bah!

Thought for the day: a truly busy person has no idea how much she weighs.

So there I was, sound asleep, dreaming peacefully when the phone rang and I was rudely awakened. A colleague is sick, can I cover her classes? But it's my birthday! I had plans that involved a trip to Baskin and Robbins followed by an hour in Officeworks (my favourite shop, sad, innit?) However, duty called and in no time I was smartly dressed (hair combed anyway) and on my way to work. So I couldn't go to my weightwatchers meeting. I did venture on to the scales at home and they just said no change since last week. Bah! Must have been the damage done by the birthday celebration at the Moroccan restaurant on Saturday night.
